"From my travels I bring back atmospheres that transform the living space into a timeless place; into a haven of peace that provides a sense of escape."
Romain Gratiot/l'Alchimiste
Romain Gratiot (known as the Alchemist) is the explorer who revealed the existence of six invisible cities: Dodgia, Noctea, Midorne, Obedia, Inovia and Veridisia. Before embarking on the journey of initiation that would lead him to discover the world of Irrational Flames, he was an architect. At the age of 27, faced with several professional disappointments, he took the bold decision to set off on an adventure to realign his desires and values. His Parisian courtyard flat, bathed in darkness all year round, was the first laboratory where he prepared for the big departure. As he tried to combine 3D printing, poetry and light to illuminate his living space (and his future), his passion for design began to conquer his soul.
But it was during a seemingly ordinary trip to Venice that the Alchemist stumbled across a time-space portal; a gateway to a parallel universe, filled with hitherto unknown cities, that would unite his self-taught work into a coherent artistic oeuvre. In this new world, he learned to use light to make objects that tell stories.
As you read these lines, the Alchemist is exploring new lands. You can find his creations on his website, featured in Le Figaro, and in ever more inspiring shops, like Le Bon Marché.
